Chaperoned

See, the flower and the apple are in love, but they can't be trusted alone, so the brown bottle is chaperoning. And what's the fork there for you ask? Uhhhh...

Pile of Sweet - SOLD

You've heard the deal about ... if you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be. Well, 2 of my top choices, both still alive, would be Karin Jurick and Neil Hollingsworth. So tonight's dinner was a dream come true! I forgot my camera or else I would have gotten a picture with them to prove it. Two of the nicest, most down to earth people in the world, and both AMAZING artists!! I am so lucky.

Bowls Four Breakfast - SOLD, & workshop photos

I'm workin' 'em hard here in Sedona - crackin' the whip. At the end of each day they whimper and cry and slink away, but they always come back for more. I'm sure it's my charm. Below are a few photos, minus the whip ...

Eggless

I LOVE painting eggshells. I could do it all day. I saved these from my breakfast. My husband said, "It's kind of weird that you have eggshells on a plate. And sugar?" But they go together so well, don't they? "Yes, they do. And I guess that's all that matters." Good husband.

After Breakfast Blues

You know how when you have a really great breakfast, and you eat it all, and then you're sitting there looking at your plate, wishing you could eat it all over again because it was so good?!

Perfect Pastry

I found this giant, utterly perfect croissant at our local market. It was just sitting there BEGGING to be painted. And eaten of course. Too bad it wasn't by me. Wheat does horrible things to me. But my son (oh so gleefully) obliged.

Competing with Cheddar

After we released ArtBytes on Wednesday I took a couple of days to do something completely different. Still creative, but a different avenue. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and look forward to doing more in the future. Click here to see pictures.

Way Past Five

This Wednesday at 11am CST my husband and I will be interviewed on Artists Helping Artists, again. : ) This time we have a big announcement - one I think some of ya'll will be particularly interested in. I'll announce it here as well, after the show, but if you want to hear it sooner be sure to listen in. We've been working on it for months and I've been itching to scream it from the rooftops!

Chicken for Dinner

This is my entry in this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge - the Raw Meat Challenge. Pretty silly, I know, but I've been wanting to paint a chicken like this for a while. It was really fun.

And speaking of Daily Paintworks, check out my interview on the DPW blog!

Strawberries and Milk

I did some work last year for Chinet, the paper plate company. I wasn't able to say much about it at the time, but I put the 4 paintings I did for them down below. I painted food, on paper plates (they added the edges of the plates around the food in photoshop). It was interesting. One of the things I painted was a fruit salad. We went around and around before hand about how it should look, and I finally cut the strawberries and they looked so cool! Anyway ... so I cut them for this painting and ... that's why? heh heh

Eggsistentialism

I have to admit, my dad came up with today and yesterday's titles. I am not that clever. In googling how I might spell today's, I tried to refresh my memory (from college) about the meaning of existentialism. Apparently, perhaps due to paint fumes, I've actually gotten dumber since then. I couldn't make heads or tails from the few definitions I read. Anyone have a simple synopsis?

Power Breakfast

This is my example painting for this week's Daily Paintworks challenge: the Paint Your Breakfast Challenge! I fibbed a little since I don't eat bread ... or fruit, actually. But I do eat plenty of eggs. In fact I wish I could have painted this morning's breakfast. It was called something like Phil's Cheeseburger Attack Omelet. Only in Texas. : )

Bird's Eye View

I did a series of paintings with bottles and cherries. This is the first one and arguably the simplest. Stay tuned for   more.

Two Beautiful to Eat

We are having a lovely time here in Eugene, especially now that the rest of our little family has arrived! Today we did a lot of last minute shopping and I even managed to squeeze a painting in.

Red Bowl

You'll never believe it - the best flight I could get back from my workshop in Illinois was via LA, then Seattle, and THEN Eugene. Ack! It's been a long day. I'll wait until tomorrow to report about the workshop. Meanwhile, here is a painting that includes a special red glass bowl I got from my Grandma recently. She is on my mind today.

Fall Dishes

I've been doing so many paintings with white in them lately, I decided to see if I could make it work with ALL color! I don't think I've ever done this particular combination of colors before, and I'm diggin' it.

Picky Pig

I borrowed this very cool pig from my little friend Ellie. Ellie is 2, and honestly I'm not sure she understood why I was taking her piggy bank, or if she even noticed. Do you suppose that is terribly ethical of me? Would it make things any better if I add a few coins to the bank before I give it back? Or does that just add insult to injury?! Thank you, Ellie!

Pear Migration

Today, Black Friday, instead of joining the shopping masses, we drove out to the coast with the idea of taking a photo for the Marine Christmas card. It turned into a complete disaster because SOMEONE (I'm not naming names) forgot not only the tripod, but the memory card as well. It was a gorgeous day, and we consoled ourselves by collecting rocks. Ok ... it was all me, dang it - I forgot the stuff and I collected rocks. My poor guys.

Hysterical Hen

More glass balls - I'm really diggin' these things. And the chicken again. I don't know why I love her so but I do.

Protecting the Nest

Red eggs? Yes, I thought it was funny too. But you don't mess with a nesting chicken.

So my favorite response to: How many artists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Answer: None. We can't afford a new lightbulb. We just paint outside instead. : )
